Adolescent Counseling. I am deeply enthusiastic about my work with adolescents and teenagers. With my younger clients, I follow a child-centered approach and will often use techniques and interventions tailored to the developmental needs of the kiddos. This may include creative arts therapy and/or play therapy to help children express themselves and work through their challenges. We will explore different behaviors and emotions, while determining the child’s strengths to use to overcome their obstacles. Throughout my work, it is imperative that parents know that their role is just as important as mine. I truly value collaboration and cooperation and will request parent meetings to check-in on progress. Parents are the ones reinforcing the positive behaviors at home to create the lasting change.

For my older kiddos, I follow a traditional talk-therapy approach with a few creative activities sprinkled in if the client desires! I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, life-cycle transitions, self-esteem, boundary issues, relationship issues and work towards a stronger sense of independence so that they can be advocates for themselves.

Individual Counseling. For my 18 and older clients, I follow a traditional talk-therapy, client-centered approach. Meaning the client is the expert on their own experiences and feelings. I work with individuals ready to make a change and work towards being their best selves. We look underneath the surface and get to the root to understand you as a whole person and promote mental, emotional, and psychological well-being.

I take pride in empowering my clients to be the best versions of themselves and feel confident in lasting change. While the individual is the expert, I am there to provide another perspective and point out patterns the client might not have seen for themselves.

I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches in my sessions, which is based on four core principles: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I teach my clients how to be fully present in the moment without judgment, develop healthy coping strategies, understand and manage intense emotions in a healthy way, and learn effective communication and relationship skills to advocate for themselves.
